AI Generation Credits Explained: How to Budget an Image, Video or Ad Project
A practical way to estimate AI generation costs, plan retries, compare project variants, and avoid surprises when a workflow uses several media studios.

The simple budgeting rule
Budget the whole workflow, not just the final generation:
Total project credits = planned outputs × live credit cost × expected iterations + finishing and variant allowance
The live cost matters because different models, resolutions, durations, and input types can change the amount charged. Use the credit preview for the exact generation before starting a batch.
1. Separate exploration from delivery
Exploration is where you discover the subject, style, camera, and prompt. Delivery is where you create approved variations at the required size and format.
Keep the two budgets separate:
- Exploration allowance: rough concepts, failed prompts, and alternate directions.
- Delivery allowance: approved composition, final model, required variants, and retries.
This makes it easier to decide whether a project is over budget because the creative direction is still changing or because the final deliverable is unusually expensive.
2. Estimate by stage

- Does the crop preserve the subject in the vertical version?
